<p>The invention concerns an entirely mechanical slackening and de-icing installation, for use to protect an aerial cable. Said slackening and de-icing device can be directly installed on the cable-bearing path, without interrupting its mechanical and electrical continuity, by being arranged parallel to the protected cable, or in several cable-bearing units of a common block of aerial line. It not only serves to slacken the mechanical stresses, but also helps to shed the ice accumulated on the aerial cables and reduces sagging in extreme climatic conditions. Said slackening and de-icing installation comprises a support frame whereon the cable is maintained to form locally a loop. A calibrated mechanical fuse is associated with the support frame to enable the loop to be deformed when the cable is subjected to mechanical tension which exceeds a predetermined threshold value, owing to climatic overload.</p> |
