PURPOSE: An LCD device having an electrostatic discharge(ESD) protection circuit using a dummy interconnection and a method for fabricating the same are to prevent a disconnection between a data line and an address line due to an electrostatic phenomenon. CONSTITUTION: A lower substrate includes a thin film transistor, an address line, a data bus line and electrostatic discharge protection circuits(11,12,13). A liquid crystal layer is formed on the lower substrate. An upper substrate is formed on the liquid crystal layer. The electrostatic discharge protection circuit is extended enough so that gate lines(L1,L2,L3) coupled to the address line do not influence on adjacent interconnections due to a breakdown caused by an electrostatic phenomenon(31). In order to prevent a short between the gate line and the signal interconnections due to the breakdown, a dummy data bus line(DDB) is crossed over the gate line. |
