Generative propagation of pomegranate trees with multiple genetically identical descendants, involves immersing seeds or cuttings in potassium permanganate solution. Generative propagation of pomegranate trees comprises (i) cleaning pomegranate seeds, removing the fruit flesh and washing with water; (ii) immersing the seeds in 0.2% potassium permanganate solution (I) for 2 weeks, then washing and immersing in fresh solution; (iii) wetting medium-grained sand with 0.2% (I) solution, placing the sand 4 cm deep in containers of height 7-10 cm, placing the seeds on the sand surface and covering with a further 1.5 cm of soil; (iv) placing the container in a cold room (4 deg C) for 6 weeks; (v) placing the containers in a warm room (25-35 deg C) for germination; (vi) transplanting into a growth container when roots and cotyledons have formed; (vii) watering solely with 0.2% (I) solution for 1 month, then fertilizing once weekly with nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, boron, manganese, molybdenum and zinc; and (viii) transplanting /=1.5 month old, 15 cm. high plants into pots 10 cm in diameter and 12 cm high. An Independent claim is included for the vegetative propagation of pomegranate trees, by: (i) placing 0.2% (I) solution in a transparent container; (ii) taking 15-20 cm long mature cuttings; (iii) removing leaves from the bottom 8-10 cm; (iv) placing the leaf-free part in the container; (v) placing the containers in a warm room (20-25 deg C); (vi) transplanting the plants into containers 10 cm in diameter and 12 cm high; (vii) exposing the young plants to artificial light (preferably blue light) from a neon tube for 14 hours per day; (viii) watering solely with 0.2% (I) solution for 1 month; and (ix) subsequently fertilizing once weekly with nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, boron, manganese, molybdenum and zinc.
