PURPOSE: An air cleaner is provided to reduce improve fuel efficiency and to reduce smoke by maximizing an effective filtering area. CONSTITUTION: A main body(1) of an air cleaner is a hollow cylinder. An air inlet(2) is formed on the outer face of the main body, and an air outlet(4) is formed on a side(3) on an axial line of the main body. A lower cap(6) is combined to the open lower part of the main body with a clamp(5), and an element assembly is received in the main body. An inner support(7) is received in the main body, and one upper end of the inner support is fixed on an inner wall(3a) of the main body by welding. The inner support is formed of bar members in cylindrical shape. A filter(9) is fitted onto the outer face of the inner support, and a sealing member(10) is interposed for the adhesion of an upper side(9a) of the filter with the inner face of the main body. An open lower end(9b) of the filter is shut off by a baffle member(11), and the baffle member is elastically supported on a spring(12) embedded between the baffle member and the lower cap. A sealing member(13) is interposed between the baffle member and the filter. While driving an engine, intake negative pressure is applied. Then, impurities are removed while flowing through the air inlet passing from the filter. Thus, clean air flows into the engine through the air outlet. According to the inner support, air resistance is reduced and filtration performance is improved. Moreover, the filter is simply replaced.
