PURPOSE: An air bag unfolding device has a device detecting physique of a driver inside a retractor to prevent mis-operation of unfolding of an air bag by the usual pressure sensor detecting weight of the driver. CONSTITUTION: An air bag unfolding device has a detecting device in a retractor(4) instead of a pressure sensor. The detecting device comprises a lever(8), a contacting point board(10) and resistor(R1, R2, R3, R4). The lever(8) has one side contacting with a webbing guide(7) wound, the other side contacting with multiple contacting point terminals(11) and a center rotatably fixed by a hinge axis(9). The contacting point board(10) has the contacting point terminals(11) to contact with the lever(8) and is formed with cut circular form to be able to contact by the rotation of the lever(8). The resistors(R1, R2, R3, R4) are connected with the contacting point terminals(11) of the contacting point board(10) to input different signal to an electronic control device(20) respectively. As a passenger puts on a seat belt, the webbing guide(7) wound around a spool(6) of the retractor(4) is released to fit with the physique of the passenger so that the thickness of the webbing guide(7) decreases. The electronic control device determines the physique of the passenger by the signal the lever(8) generates.
