The method involves monitoring a frequency converter of a motor with speed regulation. Control electronics apply a supply voltage to the motor windings in an operating phase through a converter circuit having at least two switching elements in a bridge circuit. A test phase, in which at least one switching element is closed by a test signal, involves determining the presence or absence of a short circuit current in the bridge circuit. The motor may be an a.c. or three-phase motor. The frequency converter contains a semiconducting element and is controlled and switched by a microprocessor. The test phase is used to evaluate the functionality of the control electronics. An Independent claim is also included for an electronically controlled centrifugal pump. |
