<p>The drum (16) of the premixed concrete truck has bearings (26,28) near the inside ends to support a tube (24) on whose outer end is fitted the end seal and loading chute (42) to complete the drum. The tube and end seal are moved axially to open the drum for discharging the concrete. The seal is on a stepped profile (36) which slides into the open end of the drum and the pipe ducts water into the drum, via spaced slots (64) to moisten the dry concrete mix and for washing out the drum. The pipe is supported in the two mountings via bearing sleeves fitted over the pipe, and easily replaced when worn. The bearings are lubricated by part of the water flow through the pipe. The pipe and end fitting are removed in one piece for access.</p> |
