STEEL-REFINING APPARATUS WITH AC CURRENT HEATING UNIT

PURPOSE: A steel-refining apparatus with ac current heating unit is provided for improving the steel quality and the efficiency of the vacuum vessel by reducing the amount of the aluminum needed for heating molten steel in secondary steel making process. CONSTITUTION: The steel-refining apparatus comprises a ladle and a vacuum vessel through at least one upward circulation tube and at least one downward circulation tube to circulate molten steel between them. The steel-refining apparatus also has a heating unit for the molten steel operated by AC current application. The heating unit comprises a transformer of 50 to 1,000Hz current frequency and 10,000 to 1,000,000 angstrom secondary induced current, equipped around the upward circulation tube and the downward circulation tube, applying AC current to the molten steel circulating through the upward circulation tube and the downward circulation tube.
