PURPOSE: A remote control system and method is provided to prevent a leakage of personal information by randomly displaying a key array with a fixed pattern, by matching a password inputted from a user with a password set up, thereby executing a relevant program. CONSTITUTION: A remote control unit(100) converts information selected by a user into an infrared-ray signal, and transmits the signal. A main control unit(200) is composed of a receiving unit(210) which converts the infrared-ray signal transmitted from the remote control unit(100) into a relevant signal, a control unit(220) which outputs a control signal for displaying a keypad among a plurality of keypads and a cursor to a display unit(300) according to the signal outputted from the receiving unit(210), a random number generation unit(230) which generates a random number for randomly generating the keypad and the cursor, and outputs the number to the control unit(100) and an OSD control unit(240) which displays the keypad and the cursor according to the control signal outputted from the control unit(220), and moves a position of the cursor according to the control signal of the control unit(220). The display unit(300) moves the cursor after displaying the keypad and the cursor.
