PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for estimating/recovering a DC coefficient in an image system is provided to minimize the quantity of a memory by composing the memory used for estimating the DC coefficient of an input macro block as only one line memory and two point memories. CONSTITUTION: A memory updater(100) receives horizontal position information of an input macro block and a DC coefficient value(QDC) of the input macro block and stores the received horizontal position information and DC coefficient value(QDC) in a memory(200) according to an enable signal for controlling an update of the memory(200). The memory(200) stores the DC coefficient value(QDC) of the input macro block transmitted from the memory updater(100) and outputs the stored DC coefficient value(QDC) according to an output address. A DC coefficient estimater(300) subtracts a DC value of a macro block adjacent to the macro block outputted from the memory(200) from a DC value of the inputted macro block to output the subtracted result value as a DC coefficient value(QDCp), and transmits the enable signal to the memory updater(100) for performing the update of the memory(200). |
