PURPOSE: A power mode control method automatically sets up the power mode according to the driving condition of a vehicle to improve a driver's convenience and fuel economy. CONSTITUTION: A control method comprises four steps. The first step(S130) is to determine that the gearshift stage is changed to "2" stage or "L" stage by the operation of a gearshift lever when a vehicle is driven on "D" stage. The second step(S140) is to determine whether an accelerator pedal is operated when the gearshift stage is changed to "2" stage or "L" stage. The third step(S160) is to set gearshift mode to the power mode when the accelerator pedal is operated. The fourth step(S170) is to execute gearshift by the power mode.
