LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: Liquid crystal display(LCD) and method for manufacturing the same are to enhance adhesive force between a sealant and a lower substrate when attaching an upper substrate and the lower substrate. CONSTITUTION: A gate electrode line, a gate link and a gate electrode pad are formed in a display part on a lower substrate(72) for an LCD. A gate insulating film(74) is formed on the entire surface of the substrate. A data electrode line, a data electrode link(52) and a data electrode pad are formed on the gate insulating film. A passivation film(78) made of organic insulating material is formed on the gate insulating film including the data electrode line, data electrode link and data electrode pad. An etch stopper pattern(89) is formed at either one of an upper region or a lower region of the gate insulating film. The passivation film formed between the gate link and the data link is removed to form a hole(56). A sealant(54) is formed at a sealing part for attaching the lower substrate and an upper substrate for the LCD through the hole such that it contact with either one of the etch stopper pattern or the underlying gate insulating film of the etch stopper pattern.
