PURPOSE: A method for controlling cooling of a hot rolled steel sheet is provided to more rapidly and exactly approach a winding temperature of a target hot rolled steel sheet by controlling cooling of the hot rolled steel sheet, which is not operated for a long time. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling cooling of a hot rolled steel sheet includes the steps of storing education coefficient in connection with a kind, a thickness, a cooling pressure side temperature and a target winding temperature of the hot rolled steel sheets while cooling the hot rolled steel sheets, calculating and storing standard education coefficient compensating the education coefficient, and compensating the education coefficient of a first hot rolled steel sheet from the standard education coefficient when the first hot rolled steel sheet enters a cooling zone, controlling the winding temperature of the first hot rolled steel sheet in feed forward direction by reflecting the compensated education coefficient to a cooling control formula model of the cooling zone, controlling a water feeding amount through a feedback control to compensate a difference between the target winding temperature and a rear winding temperature, and obtaining education coefficient using a rear cooling temperature, a rear target winding temperature and a progressive speed of the hot rolled steel sheet and determining a water feeding bank of the hot rolled steel sheet next cooled.
