BUS INVERT CODING AND DECODING METHOD CONTROLLED BY THE MOST SIGNIFICANT BIT AND APPARATUS FOR THE SAME

PURPOSE: A bus invert coding and decoding method controlled by the most significant bit and an apparatus for the same are provided to reduce power consumption by performing a bus invert coding and decoding process for only a bit slide to reduce an overhead and transition. CONSTITUTION: The number of reduced transition due to bus invert coding and a transition overhead due to the reduced transition number are extracted according to data(10). The reduced transition number is compared with the transition overhead(20). The process is finished when the reduced transition number is less than the transition overhead(30). A location of the most efficient k-th bit of the data is extracted when the reduced transition number is more than the transition overhead(40). The bus invert decoding process for bits between the most significant bit of the data and the most efficient k-th bit of the data is performed and the remaining bits are outputted directly(50). A bus invert decoding process for the coded data is performed and the remaining bits are mapped directly(50).
