PURPOSE: A transflective liquid crystal display mounts a reflector for reflecting and diffusing a projecting light therein, thereby embodying the display dependent on a reflective light and a transmissive light and improving the light using efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A reflective liquid crystal cell(200) includes a transparent electrode(12)-formed top substrate(6) and a reflective electrode(120)-formed bottom substrate(10). The reflective electrode(120) of aluminum re-reflects a natural light incident through a polarizer sheet(18) and the top substrate(6). A polarizer sheet(18a) and a back light(20) are mounted behind the reflective liquid crystal cell(200) to use a transmissive light in the dark surroundings. A region(120a) formed between the reflective electrode(120) patterns transmits the transmissive light emitted from the back light(20). A transmissive light reflector(122) mounted in the position corresponding to the region(120a) irradiates the transmissive light toward the reflective electrode(120). The transmissive light reflector(122) with high reflection rate assumes the shape of a semicircle, a half ellipse and a semi sphere to diffuse the light toward the reflective electrode(120). A phase shift compensation sheet is mounted in the propagation path of the transmissive light to prevent the phase shift caused by the difference between the reflective light path and the transmissive light path. |
