PURPOSE: A channel equalizer capable of inputting/outputting a coefficient value is provided to compensate a distortion of an amplitude and a phase of a receiving channel in an HDTV receiver with a GA(Grand Alliance) VSB(Vestigial Side-Band) type. CONSTITUTION: A multiplexing unit(10) selects delayed TDL data according to a code of an error signal. A shift unit(20) performs a write shift in a signal outputted from the multiplexing unit(10) by a step size and a normalized error signal. An adding unit(30) adds a conventional coefficient value to an output of the shift unit(20). The first multiplexing unit(40) selects a previous tap coefficient value or an upper tap coefficient value. The second multiplexing unit(50) receives an output of the first multiplexing unit(40) and selects a previous tap coefficient value or an output value of the adding unit(30). A coefficient storing unit(60) receives an output of the second multiplexing unit(50) and stores a coefficient value.
