The protective and closure hood for an ashtray prevents the outlet of ash and smoke and smoothers still burning tobacco material. The hood (1) forms a hollow chamber, which has upper and lower apertures. A plane edge limits the lower aperture and can be flatly fixed on a base part or on an ashtray (2). The upper aperture (3) is used for filling with smoker material. The protective and cover hood is stackable and is made of fireproof material, such as stone, porcelain, glass, ceramic, metal or plastic.
