PRODUCTION OF POLYTRIMETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE FIBERS

PURPOSE: A process for preparing polytrimethylene terephthalate staple fibers having improved operation stability by preventing the shrinkage of raw yarn during spinning is provided. Whereby, staple fibers having desired physical properties can be obtained. CONSTITUTION: The polytrimethylene terephthalate staple fibers are prepared by blending 70 to 95% by weight of polytrimethylene terephthalate having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.80 to 1.0 with 30 to 5% by weight of polyethylene terephthalate having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.60 to 0.65 and spinning under condition of a spinning temperature of 280 to 290deg.C, a retention time in a spinning machine of 10 to 20 min and a speed of 600 to 1,500m/min.
