The convertible automobile, with a removable tarpaulin (1) to cover an opened roof, has a downwards locking pin (7) at the leading end of the tarpaulin sides (3) which cover the shortened B-pillar (5). An opening (8) is at the top of the B-pillar (5) for the insertion of the locking pin (7). A manual control (18) at the B-pillar (5) operates a locking mechanism (10) for the locking pin (7). The manual control (18) is at the inner side of the B-pillar (5) cheek at the door opening, covered by the closed door (21).
