PURPOSE: A control method for a buffer of an optical disk driver is provided to reduce occupying ratio of a CPU(Central Process Unit) through improving responding speed of a re-reading. CONSTITUTION: By input of a reading command, a control unit transfers a data stored in a corresponding sector to a host computer through an interface. The sector of the transferred data is appointed by a backward pointer while maintaining a specific gap from a standby pointer. Then, a sector in a transfer completed buffer is appointed through the standby pointer. By input of a re-reading command from the host computer, existence of the data of a required sector is decided. Then, the standby pointer is transferred for transferring the data to the host computer through the interface. Otherwise, the data stored in an optical recording medium is stored in the buffer for being transferred to the host computer through the interface.
