PURPOSE: A rotary linear motor is provided to obtain a rotary motion and a linear motion by the same shaft. CONSTITUTION: A shaft(101) performs a rotary motion and a linear motion. A rotor(102) is fixed on the shaft and has a permanent magnet on a predetermined portion on an inner lateral surface thereof. The permanent magnet forms an electric field for the rotary motion of the shaft. A magnetic core(106) for an upper electromagnet is slidably fixed on the shaft and has a stator for the rotary motion and an upper winding coil on predetermined portions thereof. The stator for the rotary motion corresponds to the permanent magnet of the rotor. The upper winding coil forms an electric field for the linear motion. A magnetic core(107) for a lower electromagnet faces the magnetic core(106) for the upper electromagnet and sildably fixed on the shaft. The magnetic core(107) has a lower winding coil on a predetermined portion thereof. The lower winding coil forms an electric field for the linear motion. A spring is arranged between the magnetic core for the upper electromagnet and the magnetic core for the lower electromagnet.
