PURPOSE: A dehumidification controlling method of an air conditioner is provided to perform dehumidification without change in indoor temperature and the use of additional devices by performing operation with a small opened degree of an expansion valve. CONSTITUTION: A dehumidification controlling method for an air conditioner comprises the steps of: deciding operational frequency by comparing an indoor temperature to an outdoor temperature and determining degree of overheating in cooling operation upon starting of dehumidification; determining an indoor dew point upon decision of degree of overheating; setting up a control temperature by measuring surface temperature of an evaporator and comparing the dew point with the control temperature; controlling an expansion valve if the dew point is not accordance with the control temperature; and repeating decision of operational frequency and determination of degree of overheating if the dew point is in accordance with the surface temperature of the evaporator or the control action of the expansion valve is finished. Therefore, dehumidification is performed without such additional devices as an electric heater or a reheater in dehumidification operation.
