PURPOSE: A continuous process for preparing polystyrene resin having high drop impact-resistance is provided for enhancing the impact-resistant property by adopting trimodal state of rubber dispersion particles distributed in the polystyrene resin phase. CONSTITUTION: The continuous process for preparing high drop impact-resistant polystyrene resin (HIPS) comprises separately dissolving styrene monomer and rubber in three tanks to form rubber solutions and sending those to three of the first polymerizing reactor, respectively; adding initiating agents to the solutions to produce polymers having different particle sizes in every polymerizing reactors; introducing a mixture after mixing all of the polymers in a second polymerizing reactor to further polymerize the mixture; introducing the obtained polymer from the second polymerizing reactor into a third polymerizing reactor to further polymerize the resultant polymer; passing the last polymer through a free heater and supplying it into a volatilization bath to generate high conversion rate of polymers.
