PURPOSE: A clamp-off chuck prevents damage and permanent deformation due to the collision with a valve guide on chucking the valve guide. CONSTITUTION: A chuck includes a holder(2), a clamp-off boss(3), a pin(4) and a main body(1). The holder(2) is where a valve guide is inserted and has a hollow cylindrical part(5) with a groove(6) on the place corresponding with a groove(8) formed on the periphery of the valve guide. The clamp-off boss(3) is placed on the upper part of the holder(2) to contact with the upper end of the valve guide chucked in the holder(2). The pin(4) passes through the clamp-off boss(3) and the hollow part of the valve guide chucked in the holder(2). The main body(1) accommodates the holder(2) and the clamp-off boss(3). The valve guide is chucked in the holder(2) as an O-ring(7) inserted in the groove(6) formed on the cylindrical part(5) of the holder(2) is placed in the groove(8) of the valve guide.
