PURPOSE: A managing method for a file in a recording digital stream is provided to prevent error in recognition and detection of a data file caused by change in a file name and directories. CONSTITUTION: By a recording command from a user, a recording mode is established in an optical disk apparatus. Herein, an entry and an extension of a demanded file are checked. A final sector of the file is detected for recording information about the file in an inner memory of a VDR(video disc recorder) system. Received data streams are recorded for being continuous from a last recording location of a real time data. By receiving a recording completion command from the user, a navigation data, a backup data, and a data pointer are renewed corresponding to the real time data. Moreover, the file entry is corrected for reproducing the data in response to a reproducing command.
