PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for automatically testing a voice recognition function is provided to automatically and periodically execute self-testing for a voice recognition function by outputting a result using a monitor or a printer after testing a compressed voice signal for tests 10 times by the port. The main control unit extracts an arbitrary ADPCM voice sample signal from a recording device and transmits it to the VSP. The VSP decompresses the compressed ADPCM voice signal and converts it into a PCM voice signal(S70). The main control unit transmits a voice recognition control signal to the VRC(S80). The main control unit monitors whether the VRC responds to the control signal and judges whether the VRC is operated normally(S90).
