PURPOSE: An apparatus for outputting a voice of OSD screen information and a method for controlling thereof are provided to output a voice information in accordance with a user's selection by storing information being provided by an OSD as the voice information. CONSTITUTION: An external signal input unit(11) inputs a user's external operation signal by a remote controller. A cursor position information searching unit(12) searches a cursor position on an OSD screen when a user requests voice information through the external signal input unit(11). A voice information selection unit(13) searches a voice information storing device(14) by referring to cursor position information searched in the cursor position information searching unit(12) and selects voice information of the cursor position. The voice information storing device(14) classifies and stores the voice information with respect to OSD information according to an item. A voice information reproducing device(13) reproduces voice information selected in the voice information selection unit(13). A speaker(16) outputs the reproduced voice information to the exterior.
