PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin having a high gas barrier property and heat resistance, and crystallivity. SOLUTION: The polyester resin is characterized in that the resin comprises a predetermined amount of a terephthalic acid unit, a succinic acid unit, and an ethylene glycol unit, according to demand, an isophthalic acid unit and/or a 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid unit, and a melt peak temperature to be measured with DSC, heat of fusionΔHfa (J/g), permeability constant Pa of a carbon dioxide gas to the film, and modulas in tension YMa (MPa) when a press molded sheet was measured at 23 deg.C are each in a specific range.
