PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a harvester so designed as to enable the length of the stems/leaves remaining on the crop side to be regulated when stems/leaves (16a) are to be cut off a root vegetable crop (16) in harvesting the crop, and also to drive the relevant cutting device (25) without using an exclusive driving source. SOLUTION: This harvester has a carrier (22) for nipping the stems/leaves of a root vegetable crop and then carrying them backwardly upward to pull the crop off the ground, a lower carrier (24) for nipping the neck (16c) of the crop thus pulled off and in carriage and then carrying it backward off the machine body, and a cutting device (25) for cutting and separating the crop thus nipped and carried by the lower carrier (24) and the stems/leaves thus nipped and carried by the carrier (22); wherein the cutting device (25) has such a scheme that the end portion of a drive case (45) with a cutting blade (25) axially attached to its tip side is slidably fitted into the guide hole (48) of a guide frame (47) and the cutting blade is supported in a vertically movable manner between the carrier (22) and the lower carrier (24), and the cutting device is to be driven by engine power.
