PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the manufacturing method for a thin-walled cordierite honeycomb structure, wherein waviness in a partition wall, especially in a partition wall near an outer peripheral wall is not generated at molding. SOLUTION: The cordierite honeycomb structure is manufactured by extrusion-molding a ceramic body, to which 0.1 to 6.0 mass % by exterior allocation of a sorbitan fatty ester is added. In this case, the preferable sorbitan fatty ester is sorbitan monocaprylic acid ester. Further, 2.0 to 10.0 mass % by exterior allocation of methylcellulose and 3.0 mass % or less by exterior allocation of emulsion wax may well be added.
