摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an addition polymerization catalyst component which comprises a compound other than a compound of the group 13 and, when used as a cocatalyst component for activation, is useful for producing a high-mol.-wt. addition polymer; an addition polymerization catalyst exhibiting high polymerization activity and prepared by using the compound; and an efficient production method for a high-mol.-wt. addition polymer using the catalyst. SOLUTION: The catalyst component comprises a compound represented by formula [1]: M(XR1n)xR2m-x (wherein M is an atom of the group 3-12 or of the Lanthanoid series; X is an atom of the group 14, 15, or 16; R1 is an electron-attracting group or a group having an electron-attracting group; R2 is H, a halogen, or a hydrocarbon group; m is the valence of M; 0<x<=m; and n is a number smaller by 1 than the valence of X). The polymerization catalyst is prepared by using the catalyst component. The production method for an addition polymer uses the catalyst.
