PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous coating composition which may form a coated film showing no bleedout, has an excellent weather resistance, antifouling property, etc., and shows a high adhesion against coated films formed from various coatings such as acrylic coatings, silicone coatings, fluorine coatings, etc. SOLUTION: The aqueous coating composition contains a copolymer (A), obtained by polymerizing from 5 to 80 wt.% ethylenically unsaturated monomer (a) of the formula: CH2=CR1-COO-C(CH3)3, wherein R1 is a hydrogen atom or a 1-2C alkyl group, from 0.1 to 10 wt.% ethylenically unsaturated monomer (b) having an ultraviolet-absorbing group, from 0.1 to 10 wt.% ethylenically unsaturated carboxylate monomer (c), from 0.5 to 10 wt.% carbonyl group- or aldehyde group-containing ethylenically unsaturated monomer (d) and from 0 to 94.3 wt.% other ethylenically unsaturated monomer (e), and an organic hydrazine compound containing two or more hydrazine residues.
