PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a piezoelectric porcelain composition capable of exhibiting an electromechanical coupling coefficient kt to a degree suppliable for practical use at <=1,100 deg.C baking temperature without containing lead or a lead compound and useful as a material for piezoelectric ceramic elements such as a piezoelectric ceramic filter, a piezoelectric ceramic vibrator and a piezoelectric ceramic oscillator by reducing the temperature for enabling the baking of a piezoelectric porcelain composition consisting essentially of the general formula (Sr1-xM1x)Bi2 Nb2O9 (Ml is a bivalent metal element other than Sr or a trivalent metal element other than Bi; and 0<=x<=0.3). SOLUTION: This piezoelectric porcelain composition comprises a principal component represented by the general formula (Sr1-xM1x)Bi2(Nb1-yWy)2O9 (wherein M1 is a bivalent metal element other than Sr or a trivalent metal element other than Bi, e.g. Ca, Ba, Mg, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy, Er, Yb, Sc and Y; 0<=x<=0.3 and O<y<=0.3). |
