PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod which facilitates and to operate the brake lever of a spinning reel while griping a reel-attached portion and does not deteriorate the reel-attached portion-gripping touch, even when a double bearing type reel is mounted. SOLUTION: This fishing rod characterized by having a swollen portion 24 swollen from the peripheral area within the reaching range of the thumb of a hand gripping a reel-attached portion having a spinning reel 22 mounted thereon on the outer circumferential portion of the fishing rod, wherein the swollen portion is inclined at an angle of 10 to 80 degree to the longitudinal direction of the fishing rod and has a swollen height in the range of 0.2 to 2 mm.
