PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel sheet for a tension mask having excellent high temperature creep resistance and magnetic shielding properties without deteriorating its surface properties and etching properties, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This steel sheet is obtained by subjecting steel composed of, by weight, <0.1% C, <=0.05% Si, 0.4 to 2% Mn, <=0.03% P, <=0.03% S, <=0.01% sol.Al, >=0.010% N, and the balance substantially Fe to hot rolling, successively performing cold rolling and annealing and then subjecting the obtained steel sheet to secondary cold rolling at a rolling ratio of >=35%.
