PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a expandable styrene-based resin particle produced by extrusion capable of forming a uniform and favorable cell structure in relation to a preexpansion particle without requiring an aging period and causing troubles such as nonuniformity or roughness of the cell in relation to the preexpansion particle even when the resin particle is stored at high temperatures (35-50 deg.C) and a colored expandable styrene-based resin particle having a uniform and favorable color tone in a expansion molded product thereof. SOLUTION: This expandable styrene-based resin particle is obtained by including a polyethylene wax of which the value of complex modulus of elasticity in a dynamic viscoelasticity teat decreases within the range of -3×107 to -5×106 inclination at temperatures within the range of 115-125 deg.C as a cell controlling agent in an amount of 0.05-2.0 wt.% based on the total weight of the resin particle.
