PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preserving by which polyethylene glycol excellent in aspects of a malodor and a taste even when stored for a long period can be obtained. SOLUTION: This method for preserving the polyethylene glycol is characterized as preserving the polyethylene glycol containing >=70% of a powder having <=500μm particle diameter with <=0.15 mL volume of oxygen based on 1 g of the polyethylene glycol containing the powder.
