PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly shrinkable polyester fiber which maintains a high thermal shrinkage rate and simultaneously has fiber flexibility also after shrunk. SOLUTION: This highly shrinkable polyester fiber comprises modified polytrimethylene terephthalate copolymerized with isophthalic acid component and/or phthalic acid component in an amount of 5 to 15 mol.% based on all dicarboxylic acid components.
