PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the length change of a press rod by a simple mechanism, to shorten changing time and to make the press ram extensively elevate and retreat by a compact composition when setup is performed. SOLUTION: This press is a press whose press ram 14 is elevated and lowered through the press rod 18 with a driving device 13. The press rod 18 is divided into an upper rod 47a and lower rod 47b so that the whole length is changeable. A slider 52 which is interposed between the end parts of the upper and lower rods 47a, 47b so as to be put in and out and the thickness of the interposing part is different depending on the putting-in and -out position of the slider is provided on the press rod 18. An interlocking mechanism 53 for elevating and lowering the lower rod 47b by mechanically interlocking with the put-in and -out action of this slider 52 is provided.
