PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deposition of a stone bamboo shoot on the ink ejection container (spittoon) of an ink jet service station. SOLUTION: The ink jet service station comprises a chopper containing chamber and an excess ink receiving chamber separated from each other by an wall provided with a channel. A lever having an opening is fixed in the chopper containing chamber and turns, during maintenance operation of a print head, to pass delivered excess ink through the passage into the excess ink receiving chamber for storing the excess ink on the upper surface. Upon finishing maintenance operation of the print head, the lever turns rearward in the passage to remove the stored excess ink at least partially and passes it into the excess ink receiving chamber. Since the ink jet service station has a simple mechanical structure, it can be manufactured inexpensively and can be replaced inexpensively as required. |
