The present invention relates to a process for preparing biodegradable fibri ls from one or more biodegradable homopolymeric or copolymeric resins, the process comprising: a) forming a liquid resin mixtur e by solvating the biodegradable resin or resins; and b) introducing the liquid resin mixture to a nonsolvent while the nonsolvent is stirred. The invention further relates to the biodegrad able fibrils prepared using the processes of the present invention. The invention further relates to nonwoven fabrics comprising the biodegradabl e fibrils of the present invention. The invention further relates to a disposable abso rbent article comprising a water-permeable topsheet, an absorbent core, and a water-impermeable backsheet wherein the topsheet comprises a non woven substrate comprising biodegradable fibrils of the present invention. The present invention further relates to textiles compris ing the biodegradable fabrics of the present invention.
