PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance print quality by arranging the ink ejection characteristics of all heads at the time of starting print operation. SOLUTION: The ink ejection characteristics of all heads are arranged at the time of starting print operation by providing each head 11 (12, 13) with a timing control circuit for oscillating an electromechanical conversion element and controlling the oscillation period and the number of oscillating times independently. The timing control circuit controls the electromechanical conversion element to start oscillation earlier for a low temperature head than for a relatively warm head thus starting print operation at such a timing as all heads have the substantially same temperature. Relation between the head temperature and the oscillation time of the electromechanical conversion element is prestored, in the form of data, in a table memory 2.
