PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method and a recorder in which an overcoat applied to the surface of a recording medium for the purpose of protecting an recorded image is prevented from being stripped from the recording medium and contaminating the recorder, causing abnormal image recording or producing fine dust or power dust in the environment. SOLUTION: An image is recorded on a perforated recording medium by transferring ink thereto while straddling the perforations and a protective layer is formed on the recorded medium by transferring a protective agent while avoiding the perforations.
