Synthetic resin laminates reinforced with at least one fabric, which is incorporated inside an essentially homogeneous laminate, are produced by bonding together, under the effect of heat and pressure, at least two previously formed sheets of thermoplastic material the union being effected through the openings of a net fabric interposed between the sheets, this fabric consisting of synthetic fibres having an essentially higher m.p than that of the thermoplastic material. The net fabric is preheated to a temp. sufficient to cause substantial localised fusion of the faces of the sheets touching the fabric, so that the fabric penetrates into the thickness of the sheets to join the sheets together, and then the films are welded together across the empty spaces existing in the net fabric. The process enables materials and as PVC sheet to be reinforced with materials such as polyamides which normally have a low degree of adhesion. |
