Production of urethane-phosphonic esters

Urethanealkyl-phosphonic ester of formula (I): (where R is lower alkyl and A is lower alkylene) is produced by reacting halogenalkyl-urethane of formula: H2-N-CO-O-A-X (where X is halogen) with esters of phosphorous acid of formula (II): (where Y is alkali metal or lower alkyl) at temperature 0-140 degrees C. The esters are flame retardants, lubricant additives, and intermediates for pesticides.
