The invention provides a method for reducing anaphylactic hypersensitivity response to an allergen in a subject. In one embodiment, the method comprises administering an immunomodulatory nucleic acid molecule to the subject. In another embodiment, the method comprises administering antigen with the immunomodulatory nucleic acid molecule to the subject, which antigen may be administered as a conjugate with or in admixure with the immnomodulatory nucleic acid molecule.
