PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal spraying method and a thermal spraying apparatus to make a long thermal spraying pattern. SOLUTION: Atomized air is blown forward along an imaginary conical plane C concentric with the blowing axis X. A top T of this imaginary conical plane C is located in the vicinity of a tip (a thermal spraying material) of a metal wire M. The tip of the metal wire M melted by the arc discharge is atomized by the atomized air concentrated at the top T of this imaginary conical plane C, and blown on a work forward thereof in an atomized manner. In addition, pattern control air is blown forward along two imaginary planes P1 and P2 inclined to the blowing axis X from both sides of the blowing axis X. The intersecting segment S of the two imaginary planes P1 and P2 is located ahead of the concentrating position of the atomized air. The atomized material is formed into a long section by the pattern control air concentrated on the intersecting segment S of the imaginary planes P1 and P2.
