PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an equipment for reactivating carbon materials, capable of electrostatically charging up to an arbitrary level with less deteriorating effects of the reactivating voltage and a method of producing an electrical double layer capacitor. SOLUTION: An equipment for reactivating a carbon material consists of an auxiliary member 2 with a specified electrostatic capacity and a separator 3 set to face both the auxiliary member 2 on one side and the carbon material to be reactivated on the other, a storage container 6 containing the auxiliary member 2 and the separator 3, filled with a electrolytic solution 5, and a power source 12 which applies a voltage between the carbon material 1 and the auxiliary member 2.
