PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and efficiently manufacture thermoplastic resin particles. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing thermoplastic resin particles has a process using an apparatus 2 having a rotor part 42 freely rotatable in the state incorporated in a stator part 44 and having passages formed in a radial direction from the almost center part of the stator part 44 and the rotor part 42 and discharging a molten thermoplastic resin and water from the almost center part of the rotor part 42 while rotating the rotor part 42, a process for cutting and dispersing the molten thermoplastic resin by the shearing action between the stator part 44 and the rotor part 42, a process for moving a dispersion of thermoplastic resin particles in the rotary and radial directions of the apparatus 2 by the centrifugal force due to the rotation of the rotor part 42 and a process for separating water from the dispersion of thermoplastic resin particles.
