PURPOSE: A shoe string having a gauge is provided, thereby a user can easily find the center of the shoe string and compactly tie the shoe string in desired length. CONSTITUTION: The shoe string has a gauge which has indexes at regular intervals in order for a user to easily control the length of shoes sting, in which the gauge is represented by dyed line on the background colored cloth or projected weaving line on the background colored cloth. The color of gauge line may be changed by turns. In order to help to distinguish the division or the lines of gauge, numbers or symbols may be indicated around the lines of gauge.
